CREATIVES and ALTERNATIVES
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
AN ART & DESIGN STUDY TRIP
Art is often admired and consumed, but it is also a reflection of life and has the ability to transform. Art takes many forms- in the visual, theatrical, fine arts, performing arts and applied arts, et cetera. This study trip challenges its participants to consider the many fields of art, its purpose, meaning, and the stories behind each work. Be it theatrical plays, paintings or street graffiti, we explore the challenging life of creatives, seek to understand their motivations, and attempt to challenge the notion that art is impractical.
During this course, participants will be exposed to a wide display of art in various forms. Participants are expected to be active inquirers as they go from museum to museum to gain context of traditional forms of art and witness in their surroundings the transition to contemporary forms today, such as that of street art. They will also look at design through new eyes and learn how innovation and human-centric design pushes boundaries in the creative scene.
Participants will learn how art permeates all echelons of society and be challenged to look at social problems from a creative angle; they will understand how one creative community based in East London aims to empower youth to go forward in the creative industry.
This introductory course is targeted at youth who are interested in art and design, world cultures, innovation, and particularly those who value the alternatives and are unafraid to challenge existing paradigms to look beyond the conventional way of life.
