RT Guide Profile

Janet Lim

📍 Trail Location: Ang Mo Kio

  • Aspiring motivational speaker

  • Neighbourhood cat fosterer and advocate

“There will always be light at the end of the tunnel.”

Janet, a resident of Ang Mo Kio for 34 years, is a passionate advocate for accessibility. Her advocacy journey began in 2017 when she started using a personal mobility aid (PMA) due to a health condition, which led her to rediscover her neighbourhood through the lens of accessibility. She soon began channelling her energy into providing meaningful feedback on estate design, and Ang Mo Kio has since seen improvements in wheelchair-friendly routes and ramps. Beyond accessibility, Janet also champions the welfare of cats, a passion sparked by a chance encounter with a fellow cat enthusiast who encouraged her during one of the lowest points in her life. This encounter inspired her to start Justice for Cats, a community initiative of like-minded residents that rescues and rehomes stray cats. Through her advocacy and lived experiences, Janet aspires to be a motivational speaker to use her voice to promote inclusivity, mental wellness, and compassion. She seeks to prove that resilience takes many forms and that healing often begins in community.
