“I may not have the money to give someone but I have energy and time that I can contribute.”
Lydia, a mother of six, has lived in Ang Mo Kio since 2015 and is a familiar and trusted face in her neighbourhood. What began as a simple gesture, baking cookies for Deepavali in 2019, soon led her to take on more responsibilities with Allkin Singapore, first as a volunteer overseeing several residential blocks, and now as a Senior Community Animator. Today, Lydia helps run the resident-led Community Hub and looks forward to launching new initiatives that bring people together. Beyond her work with Allkin, Lydia started a ground up initiative called Breakfast Buddy to provide breakfast and enrichment activities for children. She also works as a facilitator at Empowered Families Initiative (EFI) to support participants through their financial goal-setting journeys by sharing resources and training them to facilitate group meetings independently. In her free time, Lydia breeds guppies and enjoys learning about the history and culture of her community.
