Lydia, a mother of six, has lived in Ang Mo Kio since 2015 and is a familiar and trusted face in her neighbourhood. What began as a simple gesture, baking cookies for Deepavali in 2019, soon led her to take on more responsibilities with Allkin Singapore, first as a volunteer overseeing several residential blocks, and now as a Community Animator. Today, Lydia helps run the resident-led Community Hub and looks forward to launching new initiatives that bring people together. Beyond her work with Allkin, she is a resilient entrepreneur, having started two businesses: a Muslim food stall with a friend and Aely Bridal & Events, a boutique specialising in Muslim wedding styling. Most recently, she took over an online baby clothes business from a friend, hoping to turn a profit while supporting her household. In her free time, Lydia breeds guppies and enjoys learning about the history and culture of her community.
