Asset-Based Community Development Masterclass: Place-Based Animation
17 to 18 June 2025, The Foundry
Registration closes Friday, 30 May 2025
What can communities do that organisations cannot?
What can organisations do that communities cannot?
What can communities do with organisations that neither can do alone?
These three questions, fundamental for creating sustainable and resilient communities, will be our focus in this upcoming 2-day intermediate-level Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) Masterclass.
About the ABCD Masterclass
Through interactive learning, case studies, and hands-on exercises, this Masterclass will equip professionals in the social impact space with the knowledge and skills to implement an asset-based approach in community development.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be well-positioned to apply ABCD principles within their respective organisations, enhancing community-centric governance, strategic planning, community engagement and programme development.
The ABCD Approach
Unlike traditional needs-based approaches, ABCD focuses on identifying and leveraging existing community assets to drive sustainable change and enhance social impact. This course takes a place-based activation focus, positioning communities as the unit of change and emphasising local strengths as the foundation for community development.
In this Masterclass, you will learn how to…
Understand the principles and philosophy behind Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD)
Develop sustainable community initiatives using ABCD principles with a place-based approach
Implement strategies for long-term engagement, ensuring community-led decision-making.
